About Me
Dr. Ali Arshad Uppal received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering (Control Systems) from COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Islamabad, Pakistan in 2016. During 2015–2016, he was a visiting scholar at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA. From 2020–2021, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, Porto, Portugal.
He is currently a Tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, CUI, where he leads the Control and Energy Systems Research Group. He was elevated to Senior Member, IEEE, in June 2022 in recognition of his research contributions to Control Systems.
Dr. Uppal has secured competitive research funding of approximately PKR 20 million. His research interests focus on nonlinear control applications in energy conversion, energy storage, and clean energy technologies. He is currently the Principal Investigator of the project Design and Development of Intelligent Battery Pack for Range Extension of E-Scooters. He has authored/co-authored numerous research publications in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences and has served as Guest Editor for the MDPI Electronics special issue on Sliding Mode Control in Dynamic Systems.
